Love column graduates into a book

Vision Group columnist, Hilary Bainemigisha has published his inspiration notes on love relationships into a book entitled, The Best of Dr Love.

The book will be launched on Wednesday 2 April at the National Theatre during the Authors’ Forum which starts at 5.30PM.

The Authors’ Forum gathers authors, innovators, investors and those aspiring to be as well as those who have an inspiration story to tell, every second day of the month.

The forum’s main speaker will be Vision Group CEO, Robert Kabushenga, on the topic, Rising and Staying on Top.

The Best of Dr Love is a series of selected love articles of Bainemigisha’s columns in The New Vision and Saturday Vision up to 2010.

The New Vision started publishing these columns in 2004 and, due to public demand, made them a bi-weekly on Thursday and Saturday. They run under Bainemigisha’s pen name, Dr Love.

Dr Love is known for his wit, humour and relevant placement within our contemporary context. His unique style, which uses common love experiences to infer to political and social developments in the country and the world at large, endears him to many who appreciate the power of literature.

“My book is a direct response to fans who have been asking for a compilation of my columns,” Dr Love said.

“But after nearly a decade of writing, it is not possible to publish all the columns. So I painfully selected a few basing on what provoked a lot of feedback and the alignment to my general theme of how to survive love doldrums. I altered a few to fit the format of the book and modified some allegories that referred to the politics of the time to suit the minds that either forgot or did not experience the referred to incidents. However about 90% of the original pieces have been maintained.”

The main purpose of the book is to inspire people into relevant relationships, Dr Love added.

When lovers appreciate the way the opposite sex behaves differently, many of the intricate situations they find themselves in will be demystified.

The Best of Dr Love is divided into four chapters; Sex Differences, Dating, Love and Marriage. It will cost sh20,000. Those who will come to the launch will pay sh40,000 for the Forum and also get a copy. Thereafter, the book will be in different bookshops.
