MOSES Kipsiro will be leading Team Uganda to the IAAF World Half marathon championships that are due in Copenhagen on Sunday.

Kipsiro finished fourth at the national half marathon championships that were held in Mbale last month.

The national athletics federation insisted that Kipsiro stays on the team that has experienced runners like Moses Kibet - Uganda’s top performer at the recently concluded Africa Cross Country championships - together with Daniel Rotich, Geoffrey Kusuro and Isaac Ayeko.

Linet Chebet  will be the only female on the team that is set to fly out Wednesday evening for the competition that is due Saturday.

According to the federation secretary Beatrice Ayikoru, they have agreed to offer a slot to inform Chebet instead of taking a coach.

“It will help her gain experience but the team will also utilise a series of international managers handling them so we believe that they will be okay,” said Ayikoru about the team.

It will be Kipsiro’s first international half marathon as he starts his strategy of shifting from the track races to the road events. He will thereafter head to Italy to receive treated on a nagging knee injury.

“We have a full team and we expect a good result from them. Most of them were tested at the Africa Cross Country championships and we believe that they have the required endurance.” Ayikoru added.
