The Ngabo family bagged three prizes but it was Maria Difonzo who laughed last as the lady captain’s prize golf tournament ended at Kitante on Saturday.

Playing off handicap 20, Difonzo carded 69 nett to emerge the overall winner of the one-day lady captain Aggie Konde’s prize tournament, to walk off with a 32 inch flat screen TV and a trophy.

“It feels good to win this tournament and it has really inspired me to come back and play more,” Difonzo, who has been off the course for some time, said after receiving her prizes from Dr. Simon Kagugube who was chief guest.

In all, the Ngabos led by Francis Ngabo bagged three trophies and a home theater system after their father (Francis) topped the men’s group A, and his daughters winning the first and second runners up prizes in the women’s group C.

Flavia Namakula was also at her usual best, carding 71nett to claim the group A with Rose Azuba winning group B while Wei Jie took the group C prizes.

Outgoing captain, Aggie Konde, was hailed for raising the profile of the Uganda Golf Club through the different innovations she initiated during her two-year term.

Katy Kabenge takes over the mantle of the captaincy and will serve with Allen Nankunda (vice-captain), Alice Kiconco (Secretary) and Mary Ocheing (treasurer).
