  • Handling skills
  • Speed during play
  • Maintaining speed while offloading the ball
  • Avoid much physical contact
  • Positioning to get the pass

Sheraton Kampala general manager and former Fiji rugby team coach has tipped Uganda’s national team on how to achieve success at the forthcoming Africa Rugby (CAR 1B) tournament.

The tournament is set for Tunisia in June.

Ian Duncan was speaking while attending the Rugby Cranes training last Thursday.

Duncan was invited by the team coach Peter Magona.

Duncan said that whereas Uganda’s players are talented, they still need to perfect their skills in various aspects.

He added that if they do so, it will be hard for any team to defeat them.

“What I saw is that many players struggle with ball handling, maintaining speed while passing the ball,” the Briton said.

Duncan played in brilliant fashion for the British Army, Cardiff, Hong Kong and Fiji teams.

Later, he coached the Fiji national team that won the country’s first international  7s title in 1984.
