Government has clarified claims that Dr. Richard Nduhura, Uganda’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, had resigned his position.

Asuman Kiyingi, the state minister for regional affairs has said that Nduhura is still in office and that claims that he had abdicated from duty should be ignored.

Describing such claims, from certain circles that Nduhura had sought asylum in the United States, as “false”, Kiyingi said that the former junior health minister is still Uganda’s envoy to the UN.

“The rumour doing the rounds on social media that Dr. Richard Nduhura, Uganda’s Permanent Representative to the UN in New York has “defected and sought Asylum” in the United States of America is false,” he said.

“Dr. Nduhura is still in office,” he added.
