PRINCESS Katrina Ssangalyambogo is among a strong team of 50 swimmers that have been selected to represent Uganda at the CANA Zone 3 and 4 Championship due April 24-27 at Kampala Parents School pool.
According to Irene Mudanye the Uganda Swimming Federation (USF) treasurer, head coach Muzafar Muwanguzi and his deputy Isaac Rwenzo will start training the team this week.
Mudanye however pointed that the federation needs sh200m to successfully host the event.
The coaches will be buoyed by the recent success of seven of the Seals swimming club members who are part of the team.
They recently won a combined total of 30 medals at the Kenya Swimming Federation Long Course national trials in Nairobi last Sunday.
The Bwaise-based Seals club will provide nine swimmers to the team at the annual event that has so far attracted 13 countries.
Jamila Lunkuse, who was Uganda’s best swimmer at last year’s event held in Zambia is among the nine.
Joshua Ekirikubinza, who represented Uganda at the World Championship in Spain last year together with Arnold Kisulo, and USPA swimmers of the year 2012 and 2013 Tendo Mukalazi and Kirabo Namutebi are also on the team.
