Kampala City is currently facing severe traffic congestion mainly due to the increase in population and inadequate public transport.

Kampala City is currently facing severe traffic congestion mainly due to the increase in population and inadequate public transport. The lack of quality public transport has led to sharp increase in private cars and Boda Bodas as a means of transport. Currently, The largest numbers of vehicles on the city centre streets are lowcapacity taxis and single passenger motorcycles (boda bodas).

In order to address this situation, KCCA has identified the need to transform the situation by deliberately encouraging the introduction of high capacity public transport vehicles to improve the current transport situation in Kampala that will both directly and indirectly lead to sustainable national and regional economic development
