THEY have posted their recent accomplishments on social media, but that will come to nothing if the likes of Titus Okwong and Ronald Rugumayo do not make it through the national amateur golf team qualifiers starting today at Kitante.

“Wooohoooo..... I love this!!! I had a hole in one with an Eagle on the next hole. So incredible!!!!! Am Happy!! Okwong posted on his Facebook wall after a practice round on Sunday.

Pressed by a friend whether it was true, he boasted; “I score more eagles than birdies these days.” Okwong is among nine golfers from Toro who will be fighting for places on the team with a host of others from across the country.

Kilembe Golf Club’s Happy Robert, fresh from winning the Venus Open together with Willy Kitatta, will also be in contention for the top twenty places that are up for grabs.

The first round of the qualifiers will be an 18-hole challenge at Kitante today before the second 36-hole round at Entebbe Golf Club.

The third and final round at Kitante will involve the top 30 players.
