THE Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) vice president David Okeyo has vowed to support Uganda’s bid to host the 2020 Africa Athletics Senior Championships.

Okeyo said that he will act if the Government gives CAA the go ahead to support the bid.

South Africa and Nigeria will host the 2016 and 2018 editions respectively.

Okeyo, who visited the country, was impressed by the infrastructure, hotel facilities and the Mandela National Stadium at Namboole.

The official said that the prevailing facilities are worth his support for Uganda’s bid.

Okeyo was accompanied by the CAA secretary Faty Lamine.

“You have a good stadium with a proper sitting arrangement and enough hotels. Put in the bid, you will get our support,” Okeyo said.

Meanwhile, Uganda is getting set to stage the Africa Cross Country Championship on March 16.

The event is coming to Kampala for the first time.
