Government has said that it will upgrade Ntinda and Nakulabye markets at the beginning of 2014.

According to Adolf Mwesige, the Minister of Local Government, the new markets will create over 2,000 jobs.

He said that the designs of the market are ready and that government is only waiting for the African Development Bank to send the money.

“These markets will each employ 1,000 people. We are targeting the urban poor who don’t have money to build or rent shops in the city center,” he said.

Mwesige told New Vision that the markets are linked agriculture, which employs the largest number of our population.
