Ntagali asks Christians to fight social injustices

The Church of Uganda Archbishop, Stanley Ntagali has urged Christians to be proactive in the fight against corruption and other social injustices in the Society.

He said Christians should be at the forefront in the fight against practices that were inimical to gospel values and ensure that the rights of others are protected.

Delivering his Christmas sermon at All Saints Cathedral, Ntagali said Christians should fight social injustices like child sacrifice and sexual immorality.

“Let’s put drunkenness aside and rejoice in the lord because taking hard drinks may lead you to sin”, Ntagali said.

Ntagali was assisted by other assistant reverends including Rev. Diana Nkesiga, Rev. Canon Stephen Gelenga, Rev. Canon Fred Baalwa, Rev. Sam Ruteikara and Rev. Anna Karibwije.

“When Jesus was born, the people who walked in darkness saw great light and those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them had light shone,” Ntagali made allusion to the Bible (Isaiah 9: 2-7).

The Archbishop also called upon Christians to repent their sins and accept Jesus as their personal savior and lord.
“You should not value earthly things first if you accept Jesus as your personal survivor,” Ntagali consoled.

He said charismas celebrations is expression of spirit of humility and love amongst fellow Christians.

He commended Rev. Diana Nkesiga, Rev. Canon Stephen Gelenga and Rev Canon Fred Baalwa for their foresight, unity of purpose, generosity, team spirit and hard work in building a magnificent Church and prayed that God will provide them with the wherewithal to complete the project next year.

Assistant bishop of Kampala diocese, Rev. Canon Hannington Mutebi also reminded Christians to focus on Christ and his redemptive work instead of drinking alcohol and over eating during Christmas.

“Christmas is not basically meant for drinking alcohol and over eating and picnicking as some do. It is a day to reflect upon Christ and upon the welfare needs of people” Mutebi said.

He also told the congregation in a sermon that Christmas was about the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ to redeem the world from sin.
