Alupo said this during the closure of the 13th edition of the National Medical Institutions Sports Curriculum activities held at Jinja Secondary School play ground last Sunday.
Students of Lira School of Comprehensive Nursing celebrate after being announced overall winner in the National Games and Sports for Health Institutions in Uganda at Jinja S.S.S on Sunday.
40 medical schools took part in the four-day event. Lira School of Nursing emerged overall champions.
“The Government has done a lot in funding annual national primary, secondary school, institutional and university sports championships. “We are now looking at transforming sports as a career, where many Ugandans can earn a living from,” Alupo pointed.
Lira won the football title after defeating Rubaga Medical Laboratory School 3-1 on penalties. Lira’s 21-year-old goalkeeper David Ongom made three saves. Lira also lifted the girls’ volleyball title.
