Bukedde 2 now on Zuku platform

KAMPALA - Starting November 2013, this year, Bukedde TV2 and WBS will air on ZUKU TV, a multichannel digital satellite TV service in East Africa.

ZUKU TV is a product of the Wananchi group, the fastest growing pay digital TV company in East Africa that offers quality TV service at an affordable price.  

Presently Zuku TV has over 70 channels on the Zuku Satellite platform and has this evening also unveiled a first in kids programming on the continent with the launch of Africa’s first kids channel dubbed Zuku Kids.

Under the deal, Bukedde TV2, a Luganda (local dialect) channel & WBS will start airing on ZUKU channel

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Wananchi Group's CEO, Mr. Richard Alden expressed his excitement over the partnership, “We are very pleased to have partnered with both Bukedde TV2 and WBS as this is in line with ZUKU’s commitment to ensuring that we offer Ugandans a variety of well balanced mix of local and International content at an affordable price”

“This is a welcome boost to the growing number of subscribers on the Zuku platform as it offers them the opportunity to watch TV with a clear signal and picture clarity on the digital platform”, he further said.

Zuku unveils channel for Kids

In yet another unprecedented move, Zuku today unveiled a first in kids programming on the continent with the launch of Africa’s first kids channel dubbed Zuku Kids.

The commissioning of the channel is another addition to the firm’s growing portfolio of localized programming.

The Zuku Kids programme, which will air on channel 600, is structured to provide entertaining and edutainment programming for children aged between 6 and 12 years as a response to the need for content kids in Africa can relate to.

He added that the material for the channel has been designed to inform and channel the curiosity of young minds through shows such as the ‘Y show’ which attempts to answer the several questions young minds ask and the ‘Sketch Show’ which equips minor with artistic skills.

Zuku Kids, bears a very creative ‘kids’ logo, and will serve as a fun club for kids with Zuku having cleared rights for all of Sub-Saharan Africa (excluding South Africa) with a key focus to see the channel travel beyond East Africa.
