KAMPALA - Opposition party Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has summoned the two councilors who voted against embattled Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago.

City councilors on Monday met and unanimously voted a bedridden Lukwago out of City Hall.

Through a show-of-hands system, 29 councilors, including FDC’s Henry Lukwaya (Lubaga division) and Hawa Ndege Namugenyi (Makindye division), voted in favour of Lukwago’s removal from office in a meeting chaired by minister in charge of the Presidency and KCCA, Frank Tumwebaze.

Three councilors voted against the Mayor’s removal.

Opposition leaders have since cried foul over the manner in which the decision to remove one of their own was carried out, insisting the process went on despite a last-minute court injunction.

FDC party president Gen. Mugisha Muntu, while speaking at a joint opposition parties’ conference on Tuesday, said the two FDC councilors acted contrary to the party’s position.

“Tomorrow [Wednesday], we have got a national executive council meeting that was called mainly to tackle the issue of those two who defied the party’s decision,” Muntu said.
