A civil society coalition on oil and gas (CSCO) has asked government to consider building two oil pipe lines  one for transportation of crude oil and the other one which they termed as a reverse pipe line for the transportation of processed products.

Speaking at their national conference on oil and gas in Entebbe, the oil advocacy civil society organizations said having a reverse oil pipe line would be cost effective on the side of government.

“We are advocating for this kind of oil pipeline because it is cost effective and it can help us to transport processed products in the event that crude oil runs out,” said Henry Bazira the chairman CSCO.

The organizations noted that having a single pipeline for transportation of only crude oil would create a gap in the transportation of the processed products.

Recently during a meeting in Kampala for East Africa community (EAC) heads of state , the leaders agreed on two pipelines; one for finished products from Eldoret - Kampala to be extended to Rwanda and also have a reverse mechanism.
