The Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese, Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga has tipped candidates on how to pass national examinations that just started.

He said that some students have faith during examinations but forget God before the examinations are marked and results released.

“There is no need for you to go into an examination room with fear because you have been preparing for these exams. Prepare calmly and answer your exams with confidence and victory will come. Read hard and trust in the lord and every success will come your way," Lwanga advised.

He was preaching at Mapeera Secondary School Kisubi on Saturday during Holy Mass to bless over 400 candidates of senior four and Six. The Archbishop wished them all success and promised to pray for all candidates in the country.

The school was founded as community school by Fr Vincent Mulumba in 1999 with less than 100 students. The current student population now stands at 1,300.

He advised candidates preparing to sit this year's primary and secondary Uganda National Examinations Board examinations to avoid malpractices.

He noted that some students fail because they do not know how to answer questions, but not that their weak. Lwanga advised them to read and understand the questions before they attempt to answer, saying it will help them to succeed.

The Archbishop also asked the students to have enough rest, avoid cramming, and having stress, not having a balanced diet. He also cautioned teachers and supervisors to desist from barking at students, most especially during examinations, saying it could demoralise them.

“I advise you, starting from you the supervises, do not bark at these students because they are young and they just need guidance from you. Be parents to them, tell them to follow the instructions well,” Lwanga stated.

He urged government to continue opening more technical institutions and also to assist those who are already in the system so that it helps the youth and the country at large to get skills to enable them be self-employed.
