THE renovation works on the National Council of Sports headquarters will be completed by December, though the cost is expected to go up.

But the Council general secretary Jasper Aligawesa said that the costs will not take into consideration Oasis Sports Bar, which also underwent renovation in order to fit in the environment of a new modern office that had earlier been billed to cost about sh700m.

“They were just given a grace period of not paying rent as they try to make their place suit the new offices. The technical committee will work on other details but they are meeting the costs of also renovating their place,” said Aligawesa on the new structure, whose roofing is nearing completion.

Like it was the case for the Lugogo Indoor Stadium that was constructed in the 1950s, the contractors thought they would only need to expand the existing place but found out that some areas had to be broken.

“But we are working around the clock to see that it is complete. Our target is to see that we are in the offices by December,” said Aligawesa.

Nani construction is doing the repair works which are estimated to cost council sh700m, to be repaid under a soft loan from internally generated funds.
