PAKASA FORUM – Meet the panelists (Mazen Mroue)        

In preparation for our first Pakasa Forum (#Pakasa13) slated for October 26 in the main auditorium at Kampala Parents School, we are profiling our panelists. Meet MTN Uganda's Chief Executive Officer, Mazen Mroue. 

Mazen Mroue is a telecommunications and information technologist. 

Mazen Mroue has risen through the ranks in the telecom world and is respected in the field. Mroué has more than 16 years of professional experience in telecommunications and information technology management. 

Before he joined MTN Uganda, Mroue joined the Ghana operation (Scancom Ltd) in 1999 as a Business Support Manager but was quickly promoted to Information Technology Manager in 2000. In 2006, when MTN acquired a company called Investcom in Ghana, he was appointed as the Chief Information Officer and it was then that he started climbing up the corporate ladder. 

During his tenure with MTN Ghana, Mroue was chairman of the product and services committee, chairman for the Broad Band and Data Services and chairman for the Business Continuity Planning Committee. Some of his achievements include deployment of some MTN innovative services which include mobile banking, seamless roaming and dynamic charging and accounting.

He then joined MTN Liberia on March 13, 2011, as the Chief Executive Officer and is thought to have brought positive results in the shortest of periods. It was from MTN Liberia that he joined MTN Uganda only recently. 

Mroue holds a master’s degree in Engineering in Intellectual Systems & Networks and completed the Executive Programme for Leadership Development at Harvard Business School in 2007. His skills in technology and business are thought to be impeccable but mostly it is his strides in revolutionizing Africa’s technology that stand out. 

He is known for his commitments to projects and for mostly initiating and helping in supervising in-order to yield the results that he desires.
