The remains of Lt. Gen. Bazilio Olara-Okello will soon be returned from Khartoum in Sudan for reburial at his ancestral home in Madi Opei, Lamwo district, his family has disclosed.

Okello, who was one of the commanders of the Uganda National Liberation Army (UNLA) that, together with the Tanzanian Army, overthrew Idi Amin, died of suspected poisoning on January 9, 1990 at Khartoum’s Ormduruman Hospital.

“We are planning to bring our dad’s body back from Khartoum, where he was buried,” his London-based son, Samuel Olara, said.

Olara said the family was also planning to rejuvenate the pursuit for repossession of their father’s estate, which was encroached on by government bigwigs.
