WITH a sh10m purse up for sharing, Ugandan professionals have their work cut out in the 16th edition of the JBG Golf tournament due at Entebbe Club on Saturday.

The Ugandans will be up against the rest of East Africa’s top professionals in the two-day event that will have close to 200 golfers competing in the stable ford full handicap competition.

With last year’s winner Deo Akope away in Dubai the onus will be on home boy and Uganda open champion Vincent Byamukama to ensure the bulk of the money stays at home.

Amateurs defending champion Willy Kitatta will love to make it two in a row and win some of the fabulous prizes that include full golf kit, clubs and trophies among other prizes.

JBG Chief executive Helmut Gauff and Gauff Consultants managing director Emmanuel Mugamba unveiled the assortment of prizes to be competed for during a press conference at their offices in Kololo on Tuesday.

Entebbe Club secretary Tumubweinee Twinemanzi received the prizes and said that they expect over 200 golfers to compete in one of the prestigious events hosted by the club.

“In terms of preparations we are more than ready, we have been blessed by rains and the course is in fantastic shape. JBG has always provided us with a bounty of prizes and the tournament has bled a lot of talent at the Club and we hope even this year we shall be able to identify more talent in the competition” Twinemanzi said.

There will be a cut after day one action on Saturday with the top perfomers going for honors on Sunday.

Last year’s winners included Annet Kiconco, Sula Kisitu, Timothy Okwi, Pauline Nambi and Maxi Byenkya in the men and women group A and B.
