Church wants children protected against terrorism

The Vicar General of Lugazi diocese, Msgr. Richard Kayondo has appealed to teachers to safeguard pupils against terrorist threats.

The Vicar General of Lugazi diocese, Msgr. Richard Kayondo has appealed to teachers to safeguard pupils against terrorist threats.   

Kayondo was speaking at the confirmation of pupils of Namilyango Junior Boys and St. Theresa girl’s primary school in Mukono recently.

He also prayed for primary seven candidates for both schools. A total of over 100 pupils were confirmed during the occasion.

He said that schools should be vigilant in order to avoid any threat like the one that occurred recently at West Mall gate, Kenya.

 “We expect schools authorities to ensure that there is adequate security at the school in order to protect the young children,” he said.

Kayondo hailed the school authorities for playing a big role in enriching the spiritual life of  children especially during school time.

He said that the Catholic Church always ensured that schools that are founded by the church follow the Christian norms as they raise up the pupils. The headmistress of Namilyango Junior boys, Sr. Immaculate Nabukalu said that the purpose of starting the school was to help young boys acquire education through Christian teachings.
