TANZANIA'S Angel Eaton fired a closing round three over par 74 for a three-day aggregate of 229 to retain the Uganda Ladies Golf Open in Entebbe on Saturday.

The 23-year-old Eaton beat Uganda’s Flavia Namakula and Eva Magala who tied in the second place by eight strokes.

“The course was tough and I am glad I was able to retain my title,” Eaton remarked before she was lifted away by jubilant Tanzanian golfers led by Hawa Wanyeche.

Eaton who enjoyed every good shot that was followed by applause from a small crowd took a commanding lead on the front and wasn’t under pressure at all on the back-nine.

Irene Nakalembe who was on her home course claimed fourth position—10 strokes off the pace but will be glad to have posted her best performance in the prestigious tournament.

Wanyeche who won the Tanzania Open in Arusha two weeks ago finished fifth while day one leader Monica Ntege settled for seventh position.
