MUBS missed an opportunity to go top of the University Football League table after going down 2-1 to Ndejje University yesterday.

Andrew Katende and Sam Matovu scored in each half in Luwero as Ndejje made up for their 1-0 first round defeat against their opponents. Ndejje’s Dan Ekoyu scored an own goal after the break.

But the result had little impact on table standings.

MUBS are still second with 19 points while Ndejje (10) are in sixth position with nine matches played each.

Kampala University lead the table with 20 points.

Ndejje’s coach Raymond Komaketch said that the result will boost his team’s confidence ahead of the next games.

“I expected maximum points today because we have been together for a while and besides we have added new faces to the team,” Komaketch said.

Meanwhile, Uganda Martyrs side is out to tame the more fancied Makerere when the league continues today. The Nkozi-based Uganda Martyrs university have summoned students from their branches across the country in a bid to improve the team.

“We do not want to miss any chance to make our mark. Whereas we have new faces, we have decided to get players from other campuses,” Uganda Martyrs coach Fred Yawe said.
