In a bid to develop the game in the country, Uganda Badminton Association (UBA) has embarked on implementing the Shuttle Time Project, a worldwide programme to distribute Badminton equipment to schools in all member countries.

UBA Chief Executive officer, Simon Mugabi is heading the project that was launched by the international body last year.

This project is targeting over 100 primary and secondary schools.

“All member countries are to benefit from the project including the developed countries.BWF is aiming at a uniform global development,” noted Mugabi.

Last week, Mugabi handed over the kit to Railway Primary School in Makindye, Taibah Junior and Taibah International School in Wakiso.

He said they are soon moving to Western Uganda where over 15 schools have been earmarked.

Each school receives eight rackets worth 800,000/= and a box of nylon shuttle cocks worth 60,000/=.

Railways P.S, sports captain Bridget Nakasi welcomed the kit and said it will improve on their performance.
