Kings LC bags maiden Lacrosse title

A poor display last season in both the cup and league opened Kings Lacrosse Club’s eyes and thus forced them to work harder and recruit a couple of competitive players ahead of the season 

Kings LC never won any single game last season but their homework paid off as they were crowned the new Kings Cup champions on Saturday after a convincing 4-2 win over favourites Panthers at MUBS grounds.

A goal from new recruit Fred Bokech from league champions Strykers, another courtesy of Fred Etyang, new prospect and two from old boy Emma Odong ensured that Panthers’ Martin Komakech’s brace was rendered irrelevant. 

 “We did our preps well and cleaned almost all the dirt in our house by working harder and getting some three good players from top club plus new promising boys. This win is for all of us, we played as a team out there,” Joshua Okecho, Kings LC captain stated after the final.

Other recruits James Tabu from Strykers and Ronald Otim were instrumental in the teams’ victory which secured the club its first ever Lacrosse title. 

It was however a day to forget for defending champions Warriaz failed to reach the final.

The third edition of this championship, first of its kind on African soil, saw five teams namely; Strykers, Panthers, Kings, Warriaz and Oneonta battling for the top prize.  

There will be an awards dinner on 19th October where the two finalists and individuals will be honoured for their brilliance.
