Teso sub-region is overwhelmed by the number of cases recorded daily by both police and office of the Resident District Commissioner (RDC).

Eight cases are registered daily making a total of 240 a month.

Kaberamido district leads the list of land conflict cases including those that have resulted in death of several people.

"This is alarming and as police we call upon the cultural and church leaders to intervene to save the district from losing many people," said the regional police commander, Kyoga East Philip Acaye.

Kaberamido RDC, Ebil Segawa also expressed concern about the killings yet clan and other leaders can help.

He noted that he spends much of his time in the office resolving land conflicts.

“Although people hurt one another over land, in the end no one is buried with it,”Segawa said.

These statements were made on Friday in Ochero sub-county during the burial of the mother of the police spokesperson for Kyoga east, Juma Hassan Nyene.

The late Sarafina Akio succumbed to cordial respiratory failure, hypertension and a stroke at Soroti hospital on Tuesday.

Ebil urged people of Kaberamido to ensure that they educate their children to eliminate ignorance that has forced many into conflicts over land and other petty cases in the village.
