Miss Tourism Buganda queens visit Bunyoro region

As the Miss Tourism regional search came to a close, the Miss Tourism Buganda winners took a trip to Bunyoro and visited historical sites in the region as they braved themselves for the final boot camp.

Led by the newly crowned Miss Tourism Buganda 2015 winner, Mabel Namala, a group of four girls were taken out of town and camped at Kabalega Resort in Masindi over the weekend.

The girls started off their tour by visiting a fishing facility at Kabalega Resort as the caretaker of the fishing ponds gave them a deeper understanding and insights of fishing and whatnot.

Thereafter, the girls plunged into Kinyara Sugarcane, a vast land with sugarcanes that is one of the biggest sugar suppliers in the country.

Stopping over in different towns, the Buganda queens, with their shimmering crowns perched beautifully on their heads, they were given a warm reception from the locals who were quite curious, but at the same time delighted to see them.

They further pored around the region and visited Budongo Forest research centre in the middle of the biggest forest (Budongo Forest) in East Africa.

Before, the girls stopped over at Nyabyeya Forestry college where, as we got to learn, every student has to plant 1000 trees as part of the course work.

It was exciting yet memorable. And by virtue of the fact that both Buganda and Bunyoro Kingdoms share a rocky history, the trip to the region was enriching and equipped the girls with much-needed information that they might use as a weapon in the final pageant.
