A 13-year old school girl died at a health centre after a teacher ruthlessly flogged her accusing her of stealing sh3,000 that had been given to her as fees for private tuition.

Stanely Tusuubira, 38, was arrested by police in Rakai after the pupil, Jane Kirabo Nakaganda, succumbed to body injuries at Nakatoogo Health Center in Rakai district.

The girl's father, Leopold Wasswa, said he got home to find his daughter covered in bed. She complained of severe headache, back and chest

pain. He said his daughter told him Tusuubira, also the head teacher of Miracle Academy Primary school, had caned her for losing his tuition fees and ordered other students to sit on her as punishment.

"She told me before her death that Tusuubira had punished her for stealing money and ordered her friends to sit on her," the grieving father said.

"I called the teacher and he confessed that he had punished the girl for being a serial petty thief and that she always stole from other students at school."

I rushed her to hospital when she was complaining of headache, backache and chest pain and she passed away shortly after," Wasswa said.

Police from Kyotera headed by CIID boss Nelson Sooma; officer in-charge Rose Nabakooza and Patience Baganzi arrested Tusuubira and locked him up at Nakatoogo police station in Nabigasa sub county.
