Four months after Ugandan dancehall musician Emmanuel Mayanja alias AK47 died mysteriously, Police are still hunting for Milton Mumbere, the principal witness in the investigations.

Police are probing reports that AK47 could have been murdered at Dejavu Bar and Lounge in Kansanga, a city suburb, on March 16.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, said Mumbere disappeared and his whereabouts are still unknown.

“His employers said they did not know his home and that he did not have a cell phone,” Onyango told New Vision, adding that the file was still open.

Mumbere, a cleaner at the bar, had in various press interviews narrated how the incident happened and the interventions made by his bosses.

A postmortem report revealed that AK47 suffered a blunt head trauma. The report dated March 17 showed that AK47’s skull got fractured and blood entered his brain, which led to his death.

The young musician died on arrival at Nsambya Hospital in Kampala where friends had rushed him after he reportedly fell in the bar toilet, and he was on March 19 buried at Busaato village in Kalangaalo sub-county, Mityana district.

As part of the investigation, Police are trying to establish whether AK47 fell by himself and hit his head on the floor of the bar’s tiled toilet or someone else caused it.

The deceased is a brother to popular singing brothers; Jose Chameleone (Joseph Mayanja), Pallaso (Pius Mayanja) and Weasel (Douglas Seguya Mayanja).

The bar manager, Stephen Kisenyi, was arrested and released on bond. The bar has since been reopened.

Onyango explained that Kisenyi was released to help Police to look for Mumbere, and that the bar was reopened after experts completed carrying out forensic investigations.

Jeff Kiwanuka reportedly found AK47 lying unconscious on his back in the bar toilet.

Kiwanuka is said to be one of the owners of Dejavu bar and the founder of Team No Sleep music group to which AK47 was a member.

Police recorded statements from all people who were with AK47 on the tragic night. According to Police, AK47 was with Pallaso, Kiwanuka, Deejay Bobby, Diamond Oscar and Allan Kiwa.
