QUARTER FINALS: KCCA FC 3-0 AL SHANDY

DAR ES SALAAM - It took KCCA FC 16 minutes to find the back of the net after a seemingly slow start of the quarter finals of the CECAFA Kagame Cup.

Joseph Ochaya squeezed the ball through the left side to give KCCA FC a lead in 16th minute.

KCCA gained momentum from the lead with several attempts on goal but thanks to Al Shandy custodian Foaz Jamal who made several saves to keep the result 1-0 at halftime.

In the second half KCCA technical bench reshuffled the line up by dropping Hakim Senkumba for Owen Kasule, giving a positive impact with KCCA dominating the game but with a few shots on goal thanks to a seemingly organized Al Shandy defense.

The intensive attacks by KCCA FC however yielded results after captain Tom Masiko was fouled in the penalty area and referee Suleiman Ahmed from Djibout pointed at the spot.

Play maker Muzamiru Mutyaba directed the ball in the top right corner putting KCCA 2-0 up.

Only seven minutes later Josheph Ochaya's great run in the area gave room for a perfect cross to Masiko who tapped for the third goal in the 77th minute of play.

With KCCA FC dominating the game of play a lot is still desired from their coaches as they seem complacent which could cost them at a later stage if the technical team does not work on the speed and ball work for some of the players.

“We played our game today and the boys played according to instructions. We have of course to improve on several mistakes we made especially on the transition from the midfield to the attack,” said Coach Sam Simbwa.

Depending on whom they meet between Young Africana and Azam FC, Simbwa sounded confident about the semifinals,

“We came here to compete with everybody and we are ready to face any one here, you can’t win unless you knock someone out, so it’s what we shall do with our opponents.”

Captain Tom Masiko was voted man of the match for his brace and now the leading scorer for KCC FC with three goals.

“We have worked as a team and are grateful for today but we have a long way to go because we are here to win something not to joke,” he said.

The game was graced by CECAFA Vice President Lawrence Mulindwa who congratulated KCCA FC for the hard work and discipline with the  great performance and lifting the Uganda flag.
