Power v Ndejje

NDEJJE University Angels’ intense, high-pressure basketball is very similar to D’Mark Power’s.

Thing is, Power understand that type of game better than anyone else in the Airtel National Basketball League. They even have the word ‘Intensity’ printed on their kit.

So, as Walker Obedi leads Ndejje in search of their first ever victory over Power today, he understands his team’s need to mix up their approach to succeed. Put differently, fighting fire with fire won’t work.

“Power and the Falcons are the only teams (in the ANBL) we have never beaten and we want to do everything to end that,” Obedi told New Vision Sport yesterday.

“It is true we have the same style with Power so we have to give them a slow game in this match.

If you look at our recent contests, they beat us in the last minutes, probably because they have more experience than us.”

Power and Ndejje are enjoying good seasons at their respective levels, with the former boasting 16 wins and two defeats and the latter a 10-6 record.

Bernes Ankunda’s Power are perennial title contenders, Ndejje are hopefuls. Therefore, the Angels need victories over the top dogs to gather belief ahead of a postseason expected to be extremely competitive.

Meanwhile, the UCU Lady Canons, perfect after 17 matches, have an easy encounter against the Gladiators in the day’s opening game.

UCU look head and shoulders over the rest of the league and it will be a shock if they fail to regain this year’s title.
