Patidar 207 Jinja 210/7 (Jinja win by three wickets)

It is not exactly a new occurrence at Tornado Bee but it is still special. Whenever the KibuukaMusokes turn a cricket contest into a family affair, you have to marvel.

On Sunday at Lugogo, father and sons did it again, this time scoring 107 of Tornado Bee’s 177 runs as they beat the Kutchi Tigers by 48 runs.

“We were on track to being bowled out for around 90 when the KibuukaMusoke storm arrived,” joked Jeremy.

Some storm it was.

Jeremy scored a match-best 41 while his brother Cyrus added 34 before claiming 3/38 in eight overs later. But it was the father, William, who initiated the family-inspired resistance that ultimately saved the two-time defending champions from defeat.

William finished with 32 runs off 38 balls. That is, 65-year-old William KibuukaMusoke!

“When your father comes in at number four and performs, you are forced to pull up your socks,” Jeremy, who is a practising lawyer, explained.

Now 32 runs is a pretty ordinary return in a 50/50 over match but it’s one thing to score 32 runs, another to score 32 runs aged 65 while playing alongside two of your three sons, with the third (Marvin) recording team stats.

The 65-year-old, a former Cricket Cranes star, is the oldest player in the UCA National League.

“It’s quite stunning,” said Jeremy, who is 36 years and William’s firstborn.

“Every Sunday is a dream come true for me. For us to be able to play with our dad on the same pitch is really a tribute to the old man. He has really worked hard to get us here and it’s just the best feeling”.

The victory lifted Tornado Bee to second place and denied the Tigers (who were led by Rohit Dhanji 34 runs Nanji Pindoriya 21 runs) a chance to go top.
