A young man who was incapacitated by construction tycoon Ronald Ssemakula aka Rubereto after shooting him outside Club Silk a year ago is seeking justice after his case seems to have gone cold.

On the night of July 17, 2012 outside Club Silk, Job Nyakana was shot in the stomach and arm by Rubereto following an altercation.

Nyakana filed a case at Jinja Road police station, number CRB/2458, but Rubereto's arrest came only after the intervention of Kampala Metropolitan police commander Andrew Felix Kaweesi.

The case was taken to court where Rubereto was charged with murder. He was however granted bail at sh500,000 but Nyakana says he has since been tossed around and does not know what became of the  case.

He says by the time he was shot he was studying and working and had a wife and two children who now went to the village since he could no longer look after them.

The case comes to light following another incident involving the tycoon in which he fired his gun in a bar when a worker there demanded for a balance he had not cleared.

Tycoon Rubereto outside his gate

Over the weekend Rubereto got incensed and fired his weapon while at Obama bar in Kansanga after the barman, Bernard Tumwebaze, demanded for a balance of sh20,000 of the sh180,000 tab he had accumulated.

Rubereto was arrested and taken to Kabalagala police station but was released on bond. The Kabalagala police station boss, Bernard Mugerwa, said Rubereto did not have a case because nobody was filing a complaint!

He said Rubereto had settled the issue with Tumwebaze though his gun remained in police custody.

However Tumwebaze expressed shock at the Police boss' statement saying there had been no understanding between him and Rubereto nor had he withdrawn the case.

Tumwebaze said the Police had asked for seven witnesses to come forward but they had produced five and the others were yet to show up.

He said he was shocked that police claimed Rubereto had no case yet they want the charge to be amended from threatening violence to attempted murder because if the bullets had caught him he would be a dead man.
