Seniors battle for honors at Uganda Open

The Tusker Malt Lager Seniors Open takes center stage as the five-in-one Uganda Golf Open continue to rage on at the Uganda Golf Club.

The Tusker Malt Lager Seniors Open takes center stage as the five-in-one Uganda Golf Open continue to rage on at the Uganda Golf Club.


The two-day event will have senior golfers competing in a restructured format that will have three net winners in 3 different categories.

There will be an overall net winner for the seniors alongside other category winners in the 55-65 years range, the 65-75 and the 75 and above.

Ninenty year old Toro golfer Apuuli Basaliza who arrived in Kampala on Thursday will be one of the golfer to watch in the 75 and above category.

Basaliza will be up against other seniors like Abbey Rutta, John Agard, and George Egadu among others.

Chris Mutegyeki, Onyango Matata, Godfrey Zaribwendi in the 55-65 category are also expected to be in contention alongside Francis Kazinduki and Anthony Okullo.

Others expected in action include Sam Zaramba, Okello Ocero, Charles Kareeba, Richard Mwami and Michael Oballim among others from across the country.

The Seniors Open precedes the main amateur event that will be played over four days July 21-25 but starting with a practice round on Tuesday.

This year's event is sponsored by Uganda Breweries under their premier brand Tusker Malt, other sponsors are Caesar Kingdom, Sheraton Kampala Hotel, HTC Hub, AAR, Pinnacle Security, Roke Telecom, Africell, Le P'tit Quebec and golfer John Katto.
