Students pursuing Certified the Public Accountants (CPA) course in Uganda have been urged to concentrate and pass all papers in the shortest possible time.

The shortest possible time one can finish the course if after two-and-a-half hours after five sittings.

“When you finish these exams in the shortest possible time, the cost of doing the course goes down if every time you sit an exam, you pass,” said Protazio Begumisa, the Vice President of Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU)

Speaking at the release of the June 2015 accountancy results, Begumisa said finishing the exams in the shortest possible time also improves one’s employability.

“Once you finish the course in the shortest possible time, you will enter the job market earlier than your colleagues,” he said.

“Even when you are crafting a CV, and you write that you finished CPA examinations in the shortest possible time, if I am on the interview panel, I will realize that you are a quality person and it improves your chances of getting a job.”

Of the 5313 candidates who sate the June 2015 exams, 233 passed and have now qualified as professional accountants.

Namubiru Jacky, Karamira Apollo, Gonahasa Steven, Nakanjanko Resty, Okuk Denis, Naswali Innocent and Elungat Charles Kujju finished the course in the shortest possible time.

Fredrick Kibbedi, ICPAU council member says that finishing the exams in the shortest possible time also bodes well for other people.

“If a person finishes the exams in the shortest possible time, it demonstrates that the papers are passable,” he says.
