THE Uganda Cranes technical team led by head coach Micho Sredejovic has announced a strategic plan worth sh400m in a bid to fell Senegal in their last 2014 World Cup qualifier in Marrakesh, Morocco September 7.

Cranes will play Lions of Teranga in Marrakesh after FIFA suspended Senegal from hosting their home games following crowd violence recently.

The plan involves playing Botswana national team The Zebras in a friendly match in Gaborone on August 31.

After the match, the Cranes will proceed for a three day camp in the Turkish capital Istanbul starting on August 2, from where they will connect for the world cup qualifier in Marrakesh.

FUFA vice president Mujib Kasule explained that the plan is fully funded by government and friends of the federation in Istanbul in terms of air-tickets, accommodation, allowances and other logistics required.

Micho and Kasule explained that the choice of camp in Turkey is to allow the Cranes acclimatise to the weather before heading for the world cup qualifier in Marrakesh.

“The weather in Turkey and Morocco are similar. Camping there will allow the team to experience the weather they find in Marrakesh,” Micho said.

He dismissed fears that Uganda Cranes have no chance in the world cup qualifier against Senegal saying, “Impossible is nothing. Our chance is football not the names on the Senegal team. For love of our supporters we shall stretch ourselves to the limit and show who Uganda is.”
Uganda and Senegal drew 1-1 in the first leg of the 2014 World Cup in Kampala in June.

The Cranes team start training with participation in the Cancer Run tomorrow (Sunday) before they assemble at Namboole on Monday. Many of the professional players will link up with the team in either Gaborone or Istanbul.
