ENTEBBE Golf Club is making the most of the Uganda Open due September 4-7 to showcase its exceptional organizational ability.

The Club chairman Innocent Kihiika has assured the golf fraternity that they were ready for the tournament way back in February. Entebbe last hosted the Uganda Open in 2009.

“Our organizational abilities have never been in doubt. We intend to stage the best Uganda Open ever,” Kihiika told New Vision Sport.

With the tournament three weeks away Entebbe is perfecting its facilities in a bid to position it as the preferred club for major competitions.

“We have imported equipment from UK to measure the speed of greens because we don’t want competitors to complain that some greens are slow and others are fast. We have new rollers and blades for the green mower. When you cut your head with a brand new shaver there is a difference,” Kihiika explained.

The fairways will be given a new character that is a departure from the usual straight and the lounge at the clubhouse will be opened soon.

The four-day event will feature single handicaps players while the rest will compete in the subsidiary category.

Professionals from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi will also compete in the Tusker Malt sponsored event.
