The Bugolobi Rotary club, Kampala under district number 9211 have pledged to address the challenge of youth unemployment in the different communities.

The Rotarians attribute vices like; crime, drug abuse among others to unemployment as the youths struggle to earn a living.

This was recently disclosed by Dr. Raymond Byaruhanga, during a presidential installation ceremony that saw him assume the helm of president, Bugolobi Rotary club.

"We have conclusive evidence that unemployment is responsible for some of the registered cases of lawlessness in different communities. As Rotarians, we will work with all leaders to identify these youths and avail them with both relevant equipment and skills to enable them start-up projects that we shall identify after a thorough feasibility study," said Byaruhanga

Byaruhanga believes that since youths constitute the highest number of the country's population, they should be helped to begin own businesses to reduce crime rate.

Under this year's theme dubbed "be a gift to the world" all Rotarians across the globe are expected to ensure that all vulnerable people access basic needs of life.

Unveiling the Rotary theme for 2015/16, Rotary International President Elect, K.R Ravindran urged all governors to use their leadership skills, passion and talent to bring about positive changes in the world.

Out-going President Bugolobi Rotary club, Geoffery Etiang urged all Rotarians to continue positively impacting on communities through more interventions.

Etiang agreed with Byaruhanga that there is need to equip youths with different skills to empower them economically.

Byaruhanga was installed by the district governor, Robert Waggwa who reminded all Rotarians to uphold this year's theme of being a gift to the world.

"We can be a gift to the world through improving standards of living of the vulnerable people especially in rural urban areas," said Byaruhanga.
