President Museveni hailed on political stability

KAMPALA - The Uganda Chapter committee for the study of Juche Idea (based on self-reliance) spearheaded by Korean Association of Social Scientists lauded President Yoweri Museveni for social-economic and political transformation of Uganda.

“We thank President Yoweri Museveni for social, economic and political transformation of Uganda,” Juche Idea Uganda Chapter country director Lawrence Mayambala said while reading a speech on behalf of presidential advisor Kirunda Kivejinja.

A national seminar on the Juche idea (Kimilsung-Kimjongilism) for the building of an independent and peaceful Uganda was held at Kololo High School in Kampala to mark the 60th liberation anniversary of Korean independence.

Juche Idea revolves around one being the master of one’s own destiny and being capable of carving out one’s own philosophical principle that guides him or her for revolution and construction. In a wider context, it aims at national development and self-reliance.

The Juche Idea Uganda Chapter committee also commended Museveni for having revolutionary ideas, which has brought change by dispensing a reasonable sense of democracy in the country.

Kivejinja said the progressive idea (Juche Idea) indicates the way for all the countries and nations to build an independent, prosperous and new society and completely realize independence of the popular masses.

He went on to emphasize the need to strengthen regional bodies such as the East African Community, ECOWAS and the African Union to resist imperialism advanced by the West and European countries.

He said African countries are capable of attaining a high rate of economic growth provided that they put their priorities right and pursue them independently and free from the meddling of the so-called development partners.

“Uganda’s economy was growing at the rate of 3.4% at the height of economic and financial collapse in the US and Europe during the “credit crunch”. This means African nations can attain economic and political developments independently,” he said.

Kivejinja pointed out that the study of Juche Idea is vital to Africa’s need for social and economic transformation.

While making his remarks, Emmanuel Mukasa of Old Kampala Secondary School criticized the International Criminal Court (ICC) for targeting African leaders.
 
“The ICC is a new terror, they are racists. They only target African leaders rather than the Europeans,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Juche committee also urged the Korean government to support Uganda militarily in order to do away with interruptions from “colonialists”.

The committee is looking to organize more seminars and also foster for inclusion of the Juche Idea in NRM budget.
