Uganda is again slated to take part in the World Children’s Festival in Washington DC in the US in January 2014.
In 2011, African Peace Murals Uganda (APMU) led a delegation of talented youth from Namilyango Junior School to the global event. Uganda won the competitions that year.

The event held every four years is organised by the International Child Art Foundation.

APMU is an arts project started by motivated art educators in Uganda, which aims at promoting peace through art and cultural exchange. It organises a number of local and international art projects such as art workshops, art competitions for children, cultural exchange for schools and art festivals.

This year, a meeting for arts educators was organised in June to introduce the idea to teachers and trainers and encourage them to take part in the competition.

“We shall have the national level competitions featuring primary and secondary schools across the country in December this year, from which one representative will be selected by a team of judges.

The finalists will represent Uganda at the global event,” said Mike Sembiro, the executive director of APMU.
