Entebbe golfer Silver Opio took a one-stroke lead in the professionals category as the 7th Onito Memorial tournament teed off yesterday.

Opio carded 70 ahead of Deo Akope at 71 on the Jinja Golf course.

Action was halted for a couple of minutes following a downpour.

The leader’s game was spiced up by a hole-in-one on number 2, a birdie on 4 and on 6 in the annual competition that is sponsored by Castle Lite.

Opio is optimistic he will raise his game for the final 18 holes today.

‘’I have taken a slender and the pressure is bound to be high,” Opio stated.

“Akope and Mutaawe are close behind me and I cannot afford to make any mistakes.”

Mutaawe is also in contention for a share of sh7m for players in this category having brought 74 just like his colleague from Kampala Brian Tolit.

In the amateurs category, Lugazi player Ronald Bukenya also took a one stroke lead having returned 70.
