Brenda Nambi‘s show at last week’s Silk fashion Nite at first seemed to have fallen on the wrong day, as it was Eid el Fitri, and by what was supposed to be starting time of 8pm, man seats were empty.

But trust Ugandans to always show up late, and by 10pm it was standing room only.

Emcee Percy and Urban TV’s Fashionista host, Tattu, then opened up the runway with a presentation from a young designer, Shirley Karungi.  Karungi’s designs were a ready to wear collection, which she started off by showing off the green chiffon emperor dress.

Among her other creations was the African print pants, and black slim-fit jacket, the white pleated peplum pencil dress, African print pencil dress and the colourful armless baby doll dress.

After Karungi’s presentation, ML entertainment took over the runway as they performed their Twekebeze song, which has been nominated in the category of Best Inspiring Song in the Club Music Video Awards.

The trio kept it truly black and white as the two young men wore the slim-fit black jackets and trousers over a white shirt and the girl wore black leggings and sequined tunic over a black jacket.

The runway reopened again after ML’s musical performance with Nambi’s designs of the night. Nambi whose first collection was celebrating the polka dot fever featured outfits like the orange asymmetrical polka dot dress, asymmetrical ruffled dress, and asymmetrical blue top wore over a bell polka dot green bell skirt.

Her second collection which was called the ‘fairy tale affair’ celebrated the velvet fabric. Among the outfits showcased was the one arm thigh high slit maxi dress, pencil skirt over a cut out top, yellow double thigh high slit little dress, and white glitz ruffled little with tail.
