THEY were prepared for any eventualities but Team Uganda was in a relaxed mood after the expected kits from Puma arrived in time for the start of the IAAF World Athletics Championships here in Moscow.

Though not the usual huge bags that the team has been getting from the international kit manufacturers, Puma sent in basically competition gear for the 12 runners who will start their campaign  to success on Saturday with Ronald Musagala competing in the 800m and the trio of Moses Kipsiro, Thomas Ayeko and Timothy Toroitich taking part in the 10000m event of the biennial competition.

The gear was delivered through Global Sports Communication, the managing agent for most of the Ugandan athletes on the team and was received by Dominic Otuchet, the president of the Uganda Athletics Federation, who is also the manager for Team Uganda at the games.

“We had expected them on Friday but the fact they had arrived on Saturday before the competition is also good enough They came on Friday and informed us of all the changes,” said Otuchet, who added that they had presented a similar running kit during the technical meeting and will have no problem with what the athletes will be putting on.

This will be the last time Uganda don the Puma Kit, with the international kit sponsor not expected to renew their contract after over 10 years together.
