The She Cranes are in high spirits ahead of their Diamond Challenge opening match on Tuesday.

“The girls are very happy and set to face Malawi in the opening game,” said team manager Jocelyn Uchanda on Monday.

The team that jetted into South Africa’s south coast city of Durban on Sunday is staying at the plush Kapenta Bay hotel.

“The team is very happy with the conditions here,” said Uchanda about the hotel on the Indian ocean coast.

Ugandans have a chance of following the action live on SuperSport 8 and 10.

The tournament is a build-up for the four African teams that will represent Africa at the World Cup.

The She Crane’s second match will be against Zambia on Wednesday. Uganda’s next match will be against South Africa on Thursday.

The third place play-off and final will be on Friday.

The She Cranes will thereafter proceed to Namibia for the June 27 to July 4 Africa Championships in Windhoek.

The South Africa trip is fully sponsored by the hosts. A similar competition involving all the 16 Sydney bound teams was earlier held in England.

After Namibia the focus will shift to the August 7 to 16 World Cup in the Australian city of Sydney.

The World Cup is a quadrennial championship co-ordinated by the International Federation of Netball Associations (IFNA), inaugurated in 1963.
