ICPAU Junior Woodball Championship, June 13

Uganda Woodball Federation (UWbF) secretary Collins Ssemanda is sure the overwhelming numbers of participants expected at the ICPAU Junior Woodball Championship on Saturday at Mukono High School will help them pick a team ahead of the Malysia and Singapore tournaments.

UWbF secured a sh7.9m sponsorship from the Institute of Certified Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) to host the sixth edition of the junior's event and according to Ssemanda it's the biggest sponsorship they have received in their seven years of existence.

"The competitiveness among the schools has increased tremendously since ICPAU came on board and we are pleased to partner with them all this time and still keep increasing the sponsorship each year," he stated.

ICPAU added sh600,000 on top of sh7.3m that they offered last year and the institute's Governance and Relation Manager, Simon Oola is convinced the slight increment will help cater for the anticipated numbers.

"We felt that children need special attention and for them to get to like sport we opted to create a more conducive environment," Oola said at the press briefing held at UWbF offices on Monday evening in Mengo.

Primary and secondary school category champions St. Kizito P.S Bugolobi and Ndejje Day Vocational respectively will be defending their titles at the event that has attracted over 30 schools as compared to about 18 schools last year.
