Kiboga district to host celebrations
Kiboga district is hosting this year’s Heroes’ Day national celebrations at Katwe Kangiri Primary School in Ddwaniro sub-county today. About a decade back, Kiboga was one of the most ridiculed districts in the country despite its vital role in the National Resistance Army liberation struggle in the late 1980s. Significant battles were fought in Ddwaniro, Lwamata and Bukomero, all in Kiboga.

When one performs a duty he should be recognised. I thank the President for rewarding people who have rendered distinguished services to the country. However, we should not wait for people to die, before recognising them. Some people died so that we have peace.

MATTHEW LUKWIYA: THE FEARLESS DOCTOR
Lukwiya was one man who genuinely loved and worked for the benefit of the people. He is remembered for his fierce fight against Ebola in the northern part of the country. The selfless doctor was born in November 1957 in Kitgum district. He was married to Margaret with whom he had five children. His family lived in Gulu district. Lukwiya headed St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor in Gulu.
