The trial of the 13 suspects alleged to have been behind the July 11, 2010 twin bombings in Kampala has resumed at High Court in Kampala.

The trial of the 13 suspects alleged to have been behind the July 11, 2010 twin bombings in Kampala has resumed at High Court in Kampala.

The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Mike Chibita and several of his top prosecutors are at the court. Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo is hearing the case.

The suspects are; Hussein Hassan Agad, Idris Magondu, Isa Ahamed Luyima, Hassan Haruna Luyima, Abubakari Batematyo, and Yahya Suleiman Mbuthia.

Also included are; Habib Suleiman Njoroge, Omar Awadh Omar, Mohammad Hamid Sulaiman, Seleman Hijar Nyamandondo, Mohammad Ali Mohammad, Dr Ismael Kalule, and Muzafar Luyima.

The case was halted on March 31, a day after lead prosecutor, Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Joan Kagezi was assassinated.

The defence lawyers are Caleb Alaka, Onyango Owor, Yunus Kasirivu, Julius Galisonga, Evans Ochieng, and Annette Badda.

By the time Kagezi was slain, prosecution had so far produced one witness, self-confessed conspirator turned state witness Mahmoud Mugisha.

The trial will proceed with further cross-examination of Mugisha.

A total of 76 people perished in the two incidents that occurred at Kyadondo Rugby Club and the Ethiopian Village Restaurant in Kampala. Many were injured.

Revelers were watching the World Cup Final game between Spain and Holland, at the tournament played in South Africa.

The third bomb that had been planted at the Makindye House on the same day, was defused before it exploded.
