Determined to win the inaugural National Junior Basketball League title, Kampala International School (KISU) went on to beat Kalinabiri Secondary School 109-5 in the opening games played at the KISU Campus in Bukoto.

It was a show of experience as KISU Bucks went in an early 37-0 lead in the first quarter, snuffing out any hopes of a comeback for their opponents.

With Kalinabiri showing no signs of resistance, the contest was all but over.

Kalinabiri Celtics had earlier got a 20-0 walkover against Ntinda View High School Magic who failed to show up.

In the earlier games, East High School Ntinda defeated Emma High School 39-8.

Hamza Nyambogo, the tournament’s technical director was impressed by the skills children exhibited but urged coaches to take them through the basics first.

"The talents and skills are there but the coaches need to focus on the basics for the learners first and we shall achieve our major target.”

Meanwhile the basketball fraternity is mourning a UPDF player Michael Samora commonly known as Tomahawks who was hit by a motorcycle on Friday night along Lugogo bypass.

Samora was on his way back home from the night games at Lugogo, only to be knocked dead by a rider.

"It is hard to believe that we lost such a talented and promising future national player. We have nothing to do but we pray that he rests in peace," mourned basketball administrator, Scot Tabley.
