A fatal accident Sunday claimed two people in Kaleerwe when a speeding boda boda rider rammed head on into a tipper truck killing him and his passenger on spot.

The deceased were identifed as Deo Busiku, the Boda Boda rider who was based at Kalule stage along the Northern bypass and Wasswa Kasirivu, a resident of Bugalani zone, Bwaise.

The mid-morning accident, according to witnesses, was caused by the driver of a Toyota Chariot, registration number UAL 011U, who carelessly joined the busy road after refueling at Total.

As the faulted driver recklessly joined the road without looking first, the speeding boda boda rider who was heading towards Gayaza Road suddenly swerved to avoid being knocked but instead rammed into the tipper, registration number UAV 190, that was carrying sand.

An eyewitness, Yusuf Ssentamu, said while the driver who had just refueled was in the wrong, the boda boda was speeding too, causing its rider to fail to brake in time.

He noted the frequent number of accidents along the road saying drivers are very reckless. Last week four people sustained grievous injuries after a speeding vehicle knocked them. One of the victims sustained a broken leg.
