MIDFIELDER Yayo Lutimba has continued to impress with back-to-back braces as URA FC head to North Eastern Tanzania to play Kagera

MIDFIELDER Yayo Lutimba has continued to impress with back-to-back braces as URA FC head to North Eastern Tanzania to play Kagera FC in a pre-season tour of Tanzania.

Despite the knock he suffered in the 2-1 win over Simba, where he notched the first brace on Saturday, Lutimba salvaged URA from defeat when he scored another in the 2-2 draw against another Tanzanian giant Yanga FC on Sunday.

Lutimba, who spent the bigger part of last season nursing injuries, is suddenly tickling URA officials to consider him for the lead striker’s role.

After the departure of Robert Ssentongo to St. George in Ethiopia, URA had opted to recruit Frank Kalanda (Express) and Davis Kasirye (Police) to fill the gap but coach Paul Nkata may be forced into a rethink.

Mayeku surprised by Lutimba turnaround

“I need to talk to the coach (Paul Nkata) to understand the man’s sudden magic touch. I did not expect him to perform like that because he has been around for a while and there was no sign of that touch,” URA publicist Henry Mayeku noted yesterday.

URA had also landed an invitation to tour Sudan for a four-club competition in Khartoum, which they passed on to Express FC, who flew out yesterday.

However, the Red Eagles officials were non-committal on the details of the team which travelled to Khartoum. URA FC, with several pre-season recruits, opens the new season against BUL FC on August 23.
